The Friends of the Missouri State Archives Lewis & Clark Educational Activities Grant Program is designed to encourage the study of the Lewis and Clark expedition, and by extension, the role of what is now Missouri, in the westward expansion of the United States by providing meaningful experiences for Missouri students. The competitive grant program, funded by the Missouri Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Commission, awarded grants of up to $500 to public, private and parochial schools wishing to commemorate the Lewis and Clark expedition. No matching funds were required. Two rounds of grants were awarded to 110 recipients. For more information about the program, visit
